When Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on Dec. 18, it will not only revive a franchise, but it'll have a trailer for another much-anticipated genre movie attached. Producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that audiences will get their first look at X-Men: Apocalypse as part of the movie's coming attractions.

"Our first trailer will be on Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Kinberg told Collider. 20th Century Fox confirmed the statement when contacted by THR.

"It's our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser, but it's certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it," Kinberg told the website.

Taking place a decade after last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past, Apocalypse reintroduces Jennifer Lawrence's Raven and James McAvoy's Charles Xavier as the leaders of the nascent X-Men as they face off against new villain Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and his four horsemen: Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).

The movie also reintroduces a number of characters who have appeared in earlier movies in the series, including Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler (played this time around by Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Kodi Smit-McPhee). Footage from the movie was debuted at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, although it's unclear as yet whether the teaser trailer will use the same material.

X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to be only one of a number of movies debuting trailers with Star Wars: The Force Awakens next month. Also rumored, but as-yet-unconfirmed, to be attached to the movie is the first teaser for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, to be released May 6.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released May 27.
