'You're Next' Trailer: This Family Reunion is Way Worse Than Yours (Video)

The new preview for Adam Wingard’s re-imagined genre film promises a lot of gore.

Family reunions can be contentious, but rarely do they turn homicidal.

In the home-invasion flick You're Next, the Davidson family comes under attach by ax-wielding, animal mask-wearing murderers, whose motives are unknown. The trailer is set to Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” which plays in the background as the cozy weekend away digresses into a nightmarish fight for survival.

You’re Next premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, where Lionsgate outbid Paramount for the horror thriller. The theatrical release was announced nearly two years after the initial acquisition.

Fan websites called it the best horror movie of year, while we at Heat Vision call it “the stand up and cheer horror movie of the year.”

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, the feature stars Sharni Vinson, Joe Swanberg and AJ Bowen.

You’re Next has a theatrical release date of Aug. 23.
