With hundreds of panels coming to San Diego Comic-Con, it can be a challenge to narrow down which ones are likely to make the biggest splashes. Here, The Hollywood Reporter offers a cheat sheet to the must-know panels going into the convention.
Game of Thrones (Friday, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Hall H) Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss won’t be there and neither will top-tier stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, but the panel comes as the HBO show has never been bigger (the seventh-season premiere saw a series high 16.1 million viewers). Eyes will be on Sophie Turner, fresh from the Montreal set of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Star Trek: Discovery (Saturday, 2:30-3:15 p.m., Ballroom 20) The CBS All Access series makes its first official trip to San Diego, with the full cast and crew in tow. Expect questions about production delays and creator Bryan Fuller abandoning ship to focus on Starz’s American Gods.
Warner Bros. (Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Hall H) The big event this year. With Wonder Woman re-energizing the DC Extended Universe, what kind of victory lap will the studio take? Insiders say a Wonder Woman sequel will be announced, with director Patty Jenkins returning. Justice League, the next big DC movie, will bring its lineup of heroes, including Jason Momoa (does that portend a showing of Aquaman footage?). Also, Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford will be there with Blade Runner 2049, while Steven Spielberg and Tye Sheridan will show off the anticipated novel adaptation Ready Player One.
Stranger Things (Saturday, 3-4 p.m., Hall H) The Netflix drama comes to Comic-Con for the first time, with stars Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown offering details about season two.
Marvel (Saturday, 5:30-7 p.m., Hall H) Expect footage from Black Panther (with an appearance by star Chadwick Boseman), as well as Thor: Ragnarok. The panel comes exactly one week after Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige debuted the blockbuster first footage from Avengers: Infinity War at D23 and trotted out more than a dozen of his cast. The footage was so well-received that it’ll be hard to top. Will Marvel repeat itself and show the Infinity Wars footage again, or will it bring something new?
