Cirque du Soleil is returning to the Oscars for a second go-round — and bigger than ever.
Brian Grazer and Don Mischer, producers of the 84th Annual Academy Awards telecast, announced Friday that the roving circus act will take the stage at the Feb. 26 ceremony with a cast of 50-plus performers from around the world. It will mark a record for Cirque du Soleil: the largest assembly of high-flying, gravity-defying members for a single performance.

It will be set to music from Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman, who wrote the score for the troupe’s IRIS, A Journey through the World of Cinema. The concept for that particular show arose after Cirque du Soleil first performed at the Oscars in 2002.
The act, meanwhile, joins a roster of non-performers slated to present at the Kodak Theatre, including Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Chris Rock and the cast of Bridesmaids.
