Everyone waiting patiently for a sequel to last year’s Dredd movie, there’s some good news and some bad news. The good news is, you only have to wait until next week. The bad news is, Karl Urban‘s not involved — because Dredd: Underbelly will only be seen in the pages of the long-running British comic series Judge Dredd Megazine.
According to Megazine publisher Rebellion, Underbelly “picks up where the critically acclaimed movie left off, with Judges Dredd and Anderson fighting the tsunami of crime on the mean streets of the dystopian Mega-City One.” Written by 2000 AD veteran Arthur Wyatt and illustrated by the amazing Henry Flint, the strip is just part of a new push for a cinematic sequel to the Dredd movie.

As part of the ongoing campaign for a second Dredd movie, Sept. 18 has been declared a “Day of Action” for Dredd fans. “We’re asking everyone who’s signed the petition to come together next Wednesday and drive Dredd back up the charts,” explain the organizers of the campaign. “If everyone who’s signed the petition bought an extra DVD or Blu-ray (either for themselves or as a present for a friend) or rented/bought it on iTunes and Netflix, it will send the loudest signal yet that WE WANT MORE DREDD!”
Whether or not the campaign is successful, one thing’s for sure: Dredd fans, Wednesday might be a very expensive day indeed. Judge Dredd Megazine #340, which launches Dredd: Underbelly, will be available digitally internationally, and in print and digitally in the U.K., on Sept. 18.
