Image Comics has announced a significant reorganization of its sales department, with the promotion of existing figures and the addition of a couple of comic book veterans being revealed Monday morning.
Jeff Boison, previously in charge of Image Comics’ book market efforts, is now director of sales & publishing planning, reporting directly to president and chief creative officer Eric Stephenson. Before Image, he had worked as VP publishing planning & collected editions for DC for seven years, with more than 10 years at Random House prior to that.
Boison leads a team including the recently promoted Emilio Bautista as digital sales coordinator, Chloe Ramos-Peterson as book market & library sales manager, and two new additions to the company: Alex Cox as director of direct market & speciality sales, and Dirk Wood as director of international sales & licensing. Both Cox and Wood come from IDW Publishing.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the team we’ve put together to ensure the highest levels of success across all formats and territories for the creators we work with at Image,” Boison said in a statement. “While other publishers may promote themselves as good partners or questionably tout themselves as creator-owned — as I’ve learned first-hand over the last five years — there is truly no publisher in the industry who champions the best interests of the retailers, creators, and the entire comic book industry alike as Image Comics does.”
Stephenson added, “Over the years I’ve been at Image, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of talented people, but it’s always nice to welcome someone with the kind of experience and enthusiasm Alex and Dirk are bringing to the job. We have a lot of exciting things in store for 2021 and beyond, so adding this level of expertise to the team Jeff has built with Chloe and Emilio is going to help put those plans in overdrive.”
