As the U.S. approaches the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, World War II stories continue to attract attention in Hollywood as this week’s pair of titles attests. First up is a YA novel set against the mostly forgotten 1945 sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, which had the most fatalities of any civilian maritime disaster ever. Also catching attention is the newest novel by Chris Cleave, whose Little Bee hit No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list. More on this week’s titles:

This YA tome from the author of the book behind the upcoming film Ashes in the Snow is set against the real-life 1945 sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, the worst civilian maritime disaster in history, as it weaves the stories of four young refugees trying to escape war-torn Europe.
Everyone Brave Is Forgiven (Simon & Schuster) by Chris Cleave

Booksellers are high on this poignant May novel from the author of Little Bee about an ill-fated love triangle among a pretty socialite, a special-needs teacher and his best friend in World War II London.
