Anthony Scaramucci, the hedge fund advisor turned White House Communications Director to President Donald Trump (for just 10 days in July), has signed a book deal for The Blue Collar President: How Trump Is Reinventing the Aspirational Working Class, a spokesperson at publisher Hachette confirmed Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter. The book will be published in September by the company’s Nashville-based Center Street imprint.
Scaramucci, known far and wide by the nickname “the Mooch,” told the New York Post that the book wasn’t a tell-all, but the story of “an entrepreneur writing about an entrepreneur who has now ascended into the presidency.” He added that the book examines “Trump as a strategist, as a communicator and why he probably doesn’t need a chief of staff but could rely on a core group of lieutenants like he did at the Trump Organization.”
This isn’t Scaramucci’s first effort at a book. He shopped around a proposal (tentative title: I Did It My Way) in the fall that would have been more of a tell-all, but found no takers and withdrew the proposal, which was leaked. The Post reports that Scaramucci was turned down a total of 39 times by publishers before striking a deal with Center Street.
Scaramucci, founder of asset management firm Skybridge Capital, co-owner of the Manhattan’s Hunt and Fish Club steakhouse and longtime friend of Trump, lasted just 10 days as White House Communications Director, undone by a famously quotable interview with Ryan Lizza in The New Yorker.
Financial terms of the book deal were not revealed.
