Many people were moved by Emma Watson‘s recent United Nations speech about gender equality, but perhaps none more so than a certain teenager in the U.K.
Ed Holtom, a 15-year-old student at an all-boys school in England, has gained international attention for his heartfelt letter about Watson that went viral after it was published by the U.K.’s Sunday Telegraph.
“I watched Emma Watson’s U.N. speech and agreed with everything she said, so I was disappointed by how ignorant some of the other boys in my class were about it,” Holtom wrote. Watson spoke Sept. 20 at the launch of the HeForShe campaign, urging men to get involved in the cause.
Holtom supported Watson’s notion that there shouldn’t be a negative association with being a feminist, adding that gender equality is not just about equal pay. He wrote that people should “stop pressuring each other to fit stereotypes” and “must not let gender define us.”
His full letter can be read here.
