A two-acre brush fire in Los Angeles’ Rustic Canyon area was a cause of concern for many area residents when it broke out Thursday night but as of Friday morning, when the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the “official knockdown” had occurred, there were no injuries or structures damaged.
The blaze occurred in an area popular with a number of Hollywood stars, such as Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and Steven Spielberg.
The LAFD tweeted updates on the situation Thursday night and Friday morning and said the fire broke out shortly after 11.00 p.m. local time. A Friday tweet said that the cause of the blaze remains under active investigation.

The Hollywood Reporter spoke to professional mountain biker Ryan Steers, who literally had to ride to escape the flames. Steers said: “I was riding home from a weekly ride. As I was approaching Sullivan I saw a big orange glow. I realized it was a pretty big fire as I got closer. The fire was coming up Sullivan from Murphy Ranch. I saw the embers, and the smoke was getting thick. I pedaled like mad down Sullivan and as I was coming down the fire trucks were coming up the road and the helicopters were overhead.”
The pictures below were taken by Steers as the fire began to spread.
