Lin-Manuel Miranda is exiting Hamilton on July 9, leaving the titular role to his longtime alternate Javier Munoz.
But who will emcee #Ham4Ham, the star-studded sing-alongs for thousands of hopefuls who enter the ticket lottery?
That crown now belongs to Rory O’Malley, who currently plays the comical King George III. The actor assumed his duties outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Wednesday afternoon, belting out “Turn It Off” from his previous Broadway show, The Book of Mormon.
After a few bars, he was joined by special guest Aaron Tveit, who launched into “I’m Alive” from Next to Normal, in which he starred on Broadway in 2009. They were accompanied by Miranda on the tambourine and conductor Alex Lacamoire on the melodica.
The brief live show is meant to reward the countless fans who enter to win discounted tickets to the hit Broadway musical. “Not everyone will win, but the #Ham4Ham show exists to give you a special live experience to go with your lottery experience,” explained Miranda.
