Annie Lennox Set to Perform at LACMA Art+Film Gala

Annie Lennox is coming to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The legendary singer has booked a spot to perform at the museum’s Art+Film Gala on Nov. 4. The Gucci-sponsored affair will honor artist Mark Bradford and filmmaker George Lucas. Co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio, the event is designed to celebrate the artistic disciplines of art and film and is always an A-list affair, not to mention a fashionable one as well, thanks in large part to Gucci’s support (for a seventh consecutive year) and influence dressing many of the guests. 

In making the announcement Thursday, Chow praised Lennox as an iconic artist and incredible humanitarian. “Her songs are timeless, and we are ecstatic to have her at this year’s Art+Film Gala,” she added.

Lennox certainly won’t have any trouble finding songs to perform from her enviable catalog of hits, including those from her early days with Eurythmics to her solo career. Her numerous accolades include eight BRIT Awards (including a lifetime achievement honor), four Ivor Novello Awards, the Livingstone Medal, the George Harrison Global Citizen Award, three MTV Awards, four Grammy Awards (from 10 Grammy nominations), 26 ASCAP Awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.

At last year’s event, more than 550 guests toasted artist Robert Irwin and filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow with a musical performance by BØRNS while dining on a menu created by celebrated chef Joachim Splichal of Patina. More than $3.4 million was raised, funds which are allocated to support LACMA’s film initiatives and future exhibitions, acquisitions and programming.
