Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles will honor Rita Tuzon, executive vp and general counsel at Fox Networks Group, and Shark Tank star and Fubu founder Daymond John at its upcoming Big Bash gala, scheduled for Oct. 21.
The event, to be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, will see Tuzon presented with the Sherry Lansing Award, while John will receive the Walt Disney Man of the Year Award.
Tuzon is being singled out for her work with the organization in helping create a workplace program that will see youth mentored by Fox employees. According to BBBSLA, the relationship is a “high-impact educational, vocational and cultural program that connects youth with opportunities to access and learn about the corporate world.” The exec currently serves as a “Big Sister” in the Women in Entertainment program, a program in partnership with The Hollywood Reporter.
For his part, John is being honored for his “leadership as a mentor, role model and his commitment and work to strengthening communities through mentorship of youth from underserved communities.”
“I am humbled by this year’s honorees for their leadership in investing in our youth and paving the way to their success,” Tiffany Siart, president and CEO of BBBSLA, said Wednesday in a statement.
Honorary gala chairs for the event include notable industry names like William H. Ahmanson, Megan Colligan, Ann Daly, William R. Davis, Roy P. and Sheri Disney, Nancy Josephson, Sue Kroll, John Lasseter, Jennifer Salke, Anne Sweeney and Dana Walden. More information about the event can be found here.
