A metro station located on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Los Angeles was shut down Friday after a suspicious black backpack was found on the subway track railing, according to ABC Eyewitness News.
Nearby stations on Universal/Studio City and Hollywood/Western also were temporarily closed down, Metro officials told ABC.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad was called to investigate the scene as the platform was cleared and several other nearby streets also were shut down for safety precaution.
Disney’s El Captain Theatre and TCL Chinese Theatre also were evacuated as a result of the bomb scare.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department tweeted about the road closures close to 6 p.m. Friday night. The situation was resolved by 6:45 p.m., ABC reports.
In the days ahead of the Academy Awards, the area already was facing street closures and construction, with pre-show stages and fan areas being readied for the big event.
Beginning Feb. 19, Hollywood Boulevard will be closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive. The MTA station at Hollywood & Highland also is planning a brief closure, with service shutting down the weekend of the Oscars.
