Chipotle’s Twitter followers got some unexpected reading material over the weekend.
The burrito chain has apologized after hackers sent racist and profane messages from its Twitter page, some directed at President Barack Obama.
“We apologize for the very offensive messages sent out from our account earlier tonight,” the chain tweeted early Sunday morning. “We were unfortunately hijacked temporarily.”
The offensive tweets have been deleted, but some Twitter users posted screen grabs of them, which showed that the hackers had replaced Chipotle’s logo with a swastika.
One hacked tweet read: “We are now in support of the Nazi Party. F— that n— Obama.” Another read: “F— the government and the FBI.”
