The Twitter account for the Cincinnati Zoo has been taken down, following a flood of memes about Harambe, the gorilla who was killed in May after a child fell into the animal’s enclosure.
Since then Harambe has been the subject of endless memes, but the zoo doesn’t find them to be funny.
“We are not amused by the memes, petitions and signs about Harambe,” zoo director Thane Maynard told the Associated Press. “Our zoo family is still healing, and the constant mention of Harambe makes moving forward more difficult for us.”
Meanwhile, when asked about the zoo’s Twitter account not working, a zoo spokesperson told the Cincinnati Enquirer, “Thanks. We know.”
Maynard’s own Twitter account was hacked over the weekend with Harambe memes.

The zoo’s Facebook account is still active. “We are honoring Harambe by redoubling our gorilla conservation efforts and encouraging others to join us,” said Maynard in his statement.
The Cincinnati Zoo Harambe’d its Twitter account. There is no limit to what they might Harambe.
