Leave it to Cindy Crawford to be, at almost 50 years old, still starring in major fashion campaigns — and with 45-year-old co-stars Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer no less. As for the person who hired them for the Spring 2016 Balmain ads, creative director Olivier Rousteing, he could be their son.

Indeed, Rousteing noted in a release that, “While we shot these images, I had to smile as I imagined how my adolescent self would have reacted with utter disbelief if someone could have traveled back in time to tell me that one day I would be in a New York studio, watching Steven Klein shoot Cindy, Claudia and Naomi for my Spring 2016 campaign — for those four singular talents have inspired me from day one.”
The campaign features the supermodel trio in black and white, with dramatic direct lighting, wearing lots of ruffles and fishnet-style mesh. With their body-con looks, the women join other Balmain devotees including Kendall and Kylie Jenner; Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian; Beyonce; and Bella and Gigi Hadid.
But really, who needs anyone else when you have Crawford, Campbell and Schiffer on board? Said Rousteing, “Still today, many years on, their iconic images are often found amongst the jumble on mood boards in my (and almost every other designers’) atelier … I like to think that perhaps someday these shots might also form part of some future designer’s mood board.”
