Dave Chappelle is set to make his Broadway debut this summer.
The comedian and actor will do ten stand-up shows at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, expanded from the initially announced five due to ticket demand.
Titled Dave Chappelle Live on Broadway, the Live Nation-produced limited event is now set to run July 9-20.
The Grammy- and Emmy-winning comic has so far released four specials on Netflix: The Art of Spin, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity and The Bird Revelations.
Chappelle became a household name via his critically acclaimed but short-lived Comedy Central sketch series, Chappelle’s Show.
The Lunt-Fontanne engagement is one of several short runs booked at the venue through the late spring and summer months, before Tina: The Tina Turner Musical begins performances in the fall. Those limited engagements have so far included stints from Brit crooner Morrissey, multi-instrumentalist Yanni, veteran comic Mel Brooks and singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, with magician Criss Angel and Barry Manilow to follow.
Dave Chappelle on Broadway is presented by Live Nation, The Araca Group and EBG. Tickets to the added second week of performances will go on sale starting Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m. ET through TicketMaster.com and by phone at 877-250-2929.
June 25, 10 a.m. This story has been updated with details of additional second week of Chappelle performances and other limited runs at the Lunt-Fontanne.
