From Mulholland Drive to Sunset Boulevard: David Lynch has partnered with the new James West Hollywood hotel along the iconic Sunset Strip. Starting today through the property’s May 1 debut, the luxury lodging will donate $10 for each booking to his eponymous transcendental meditation foundation.
To mark the partnership, The James (whose other locations in New York City and Chicago have hosted the likes of Zac Efron, Jennifer Aniston and Oscar Isaac) released a short film, A New Sunrise Over Sunset, produced by Lynch and directed by photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis. The series of vignettes, debuting exclusively with The Hollywood Reporter, feature a number of David Lynch Foundation supporters and L.A. personalities including the model and jewelry designer Erin Wasson, Night+Market owner Kris Yenbamroong and Grammy-winning singer James Fauntleroy. Kyle MacLachlan, next seen in Lynch’s anticipated revival of Twin Peaks, premiering May 21 on Showtime, narrates the meditation segment.
The 286-room James, at the corner of Sunset and La Cienega Boulevards, where The House of Blues long stood, is the first ground-up hotel in West Hollywood in three decades. Former Top Chef contestant Chris Crary, most recently of Hyde Sunset Kitchen + Cocktails, will be running Farmspoke at the property.
