Moby has been chosen as the recipient of the EMA Missions in Music Award, to be handed out at the Environmental Media Association’s 26th Annual EMA Awards.
Nicole Richie has been tapped to host the festivities, set to be held Oct. 22 in Burbank.
Richie has maintained an impactful presence when it comes to using her celebrity for the better good, as well as raising awareness about the causes closest to her heart.
Debbie Levin, president of the EMA, expressed her admiration for the actress’s outstanding record as an advocate of the organization’s overall mission.
“We can think of no better person to host the EMA Awards than our very own Nicole Richie,” Levin said Wednesday in a statement. “As a longstanding member of our board, Nicole quite simply captures the spirit of the EMA Awards; she has a deep philanthropic history and commitment to the environment.”
Levin also explained why Moby is the perfect candidate for this year’s honors: “It’s simply amazing what he’s been able to accomplish. From starting his own nonprofit, to advocating on Capitol Hill for net neutrality, to opening his own 100 percent organic vegan restaurant, Moby uses his talent to bring good to the world. We’re proud to present him with the EMA Missions in Music Award.”
The goal for the 26th anniversary celebration is to continue focusing on future ventures and encouraging the voices and ingenious ideas of the next generation.
The event also will include the introduction of EMA’s 2.0 mission that is geared to help propel the quest of being environmentally conscious through the utilization of outlets like the media, while also implementing green innovation in the sectors of business and technology.
