Anchor Bay Films has acquired all North American rights to Richard Bates, Jr.’s debut feature Excision, which had its world premiere in the Park City at Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival last month.
AnnaLynne McCord, Traci Lords, Ariel Winter, Roger Bart, Jeremy Sumpter, Malcolm McDowell, Matthew Gray Gubler, Marlee Matlin, Ray Wise and John Waters star in the story of a teenage outcast whose behavior and obsessions increasingly disturb her parents and peers. Ultimately, the girl decides to perform an operation on her younger sister, who suffers from cystic fibrosis.

Dylan Hale Lewis produced the BXR Productions project, which Bates adapted from his own short film.
“We are pleased to be adding Excision to our slate this year,” said Anchor Bay acquisitions exec Kevin Kasha. “It has an amazing cast and we know Anchor Bay fans will love it!”
Kasha, Josh Thomashow and Marc Barson negotiated the deal for Anchor Bay with Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Souza of Preferred Content, Cassian Elwes and attorney Elsa Ramo on behalf of the filmmakers.
Anchor Bay has recently released Kill the Irishman, Beautiful Boy and Corman’s World. The company acquired the crime drama The Son of No One out of the 2011 Sundance fest.
