Living in the hills above L.A. has its problems for owners of multimillion-dollar car collections. “A lot of my clients only have the space for a few cars at a time,” says Scott Elrod of AutoConcierge (310-979-5900), with its nine-figures worth of museum-quality Porsches, Ferraris and Aston Martins guarded 24/7 in West L.A. “We do everything from storing and rotating out cars for clients to shipping their cars across the globe.”
Burbank’s Autotopia (512-439-9416) is the solution for longtime client Wilmer Valderrama, who says, “They’ve built a very special place for collectors.” Monthly storage fees at each facility run $850 a month per car; ancillary services might include procuring a rare, early ‘70s Lamborghini Espada ($150,000), shipping a car to Dubai overnight ($25,000) and setting up a day at the Willow Spring racetrack ($50,000).
For collectors, it can add up to seven figures or more annually — cars, gas and insurance not included. Says Grandma’s House Entertainment co-founder Adam Bold, who stores his 10-plus collection at AutoConcierge: “The bottom line is, I’m a big kid and these are my toys. And Scott makes sure all my toys are safe.”
