Sopranos alum Jamie-Lynn Sigler will be honored for her battle against multiple sclerosis (MS) at Nancy Davis’ 24th annual Race to Erase MS Gala with the Medal of Hope award.
The star-studded gala will take place on May 5 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Sigler, 34, revealed in January that she has been living with MS for the past 15 years. She told People magazine she was diagnosed when she was 19 years old, before the third season of Sopranos. She also expressed that her symptoms have in the last decade made it hard to walk or run for long periods of time without rest.
“I admire Jamie-Lynn’s bravery for publicly sharing her journey with MS, and in doing so she helped inspire others with this disease to take charge of their health,” said Davis in a statement. “She has ignited a new awareness for multiple sclerosis worldwide and has been working diligently to find a cure in our lifetime.”
Previous recipients of the Medal of Hope include Tommy Hilfiger, Jack and Sharon Osbourne and Dean Singleton. Davis’ gala has raised over $46 million for advances in MS through the organization’s Without Walls program.
