Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld set up a lemonade stand with their son and his friends in order to raise money for Jessica’s Baby Buggy charity. However, the stand was shut down by East Hampton Village Police after a neighbor called and complained.
Jessica posted a photo of everyone jokingly holding their arms up in surrender, as a policeman walks away from the stand.
“Lemonade dreams crushed by local neighbor but not before raising lots of money for @loverecycled,” she wrote. Love Recycled is the motto for her Baby Buggy charity organization, which donates clothing, gear and services to families in need. “Thanks to all of our customers and big tippers! thanks Xander and Jaden for crushing it today with Julian and Jerry,” said Jessica.
East Hampton Village Police Chief Jerry Larsen confirmed the incident to The East Hampton Press. He said the police officer was responding to a complaint about illegally parked cars near the lemonade stand. Village code does not permit lemonade stands on village property because it prohibits all forms of peddling.
