Jersey Boys has been working its way back to the New York stage.
The beloved musical will begin an open-ended run at its new off-Broadway home at the New World Stages in November. Casting and official dates will be announced soon.
The hit show ended its record-breaking 11-year run this past January. It became the 12th longest-running show in Broadway history, and will have played 4,642 performances at the August Wilson Theatre upon closing.
Jersey Boys, which tells the behind-the-music story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, had its world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 before opening on Broadway the following year. The show received the Tony Award for best musical in 2006, and the cast recording — featuring such hits as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Oh What a Night,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Working My Way Back to You” — earned the Grammy Award for best musical show album.
The bio-musical was written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, direction by two-time Tony-winner Des McAnuff and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
