Jon Hamm will host the L.A. Art Show’s Opening Night Premiere Gala on Wednesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, marking its fourth year as the L.A. Art Show’s charity partner.
One hundred percent of sales from Patron and Vanguard tickets will go directly to St. Jude while 15 percent of sales from Friend tickets will also be donated to the charity. Hollywood names slated to attend include Aldis Hodge and Matthew Modine, both of whom have work appearing at the fair, along with Jesse Williams, Terry Crews, Emma Roberts, Cheech Marin, Omar Miller, Yvonne Orji, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Anthony Hemingway and others.
Guests of Wednesday’s gala will enjoy a preview of exhibits at the show, live music and performances, including dancers and interactive art pieces, as well as food and drink from more than 20 local restaurants with food prepared by James Beard Award-nominated chef Jeffrey Nimer.
Pieces and performances on display Wednesday will include artist Logan Maxwell Hagege’s “Connect the Dots” installation, in which participants will have five minutes to connect the dots and reveal an original work of art; an unveiling of the National Exhibition of China by L.A. Art Show producer Kim Martindale; and a special performance of “YARE: One More Dance” by Cristobal Valecillos.
Hamm, no stranger to emceeing gala events, served as host of the NHL 100 celebration last January and has been a longtime supporter of St. Jude, hosting the organization’s Desert Smash tennis benefit in Rancho Mirage, Calif. in March 2017.
