Kid Rock shared the holiday spirit by paying off a number of layaway accounts at a Nashville Walmart, the rocker recently announced.
Inspired by similar actions of filmmaker Tyler Perry, Rock (born Robert James Ritchie) paid $81,000 to clear 350 layaway accounts, Tom Meyer, the manager of the store, told WBIR on Saturday.
Rock also tweeted about it, thanking Perry for the idea.
“@tylerperry Great idea! I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!” Rock tweeted.
Perry recently announced he paid about $434,000 to clear the accounts at two Walmarts in Georgia.
“I have paid for all of your layaways for Christmas. So Merry Christmas to everybody,” he said in part in a video he posted to social media. “You got to go into the Walmart, get your layaway and pay a penny, one penny, and you get your layaway. I know it’s hard times and a lot of people are struggling. I’m just really really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this. So, God bless you. Go get your stuff.”
