The Kid Stays in the Picture is coming to the stage.
A new production — tracing the meteoric rise, fall and rise of legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans, as previously charted in the 2002 film — will debut at the Royal Court Theatre, as part of its upcoming season.
Simon McBurney, who created and stars in The Encounter on Broadway, will direct the play, co-produced with Patrick Milling Smith, Barbara Broccoli, Michael Wilson and Brian Carmody and in association with Complicite. Its premiere run is set for March 7 through April 8.
Later in the year, the theater will also unveil Jez Butterworth’s play The Ferryman, directed by Sam Mendes, as well as Nuclear War, from Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time playwright Simon Stephens.
The Royal Court’s season also includes Debbie Tucker Green’s A Profoundly Affectionate, Passionate Devotion to Someone (-Noun), Gary Owen’s Killology, Alice Birch’s Anatomy of a Suicide, Jim Cartwright’s Road, Guillermo Calderon’s B, Chris Thorpe’s Victory Condition and the anonymously penned Manwatching.
