Kristen Bell Sings ‘Frozen’ Song For Charity

Kristen Bell isn’t afraid to use her Frozen powers to raise money for charity.

Bell, along with host Max Greenfield (New Girl), performed “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball on Sunday night, which drew an A-list crowd, including Donna Langley, Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Sharon Stone, Paula Patton and Devon Franklin in Los Angeles.  

“Maybe Princess Anna will call your kid and say go to bed or eat your broccoli or whatever the hell you want me to tell them,” said Bell as she pumped the audiences for donations at the fundraiser.  

Chrysalis Ball founder and co-chair Rebecca Gayheart Dane‘s annual dinner took place in the sprawling backyard of Susan Harris and Chrysalis chairman of the board Hayward Kaiser. Aloe Blacc and his wife, Maya Jupiter, performed between awards presentations honoring heavyweight executives: DreamWorks CEO Michael Wright, Shondaland executive producer Betsy Beers and Will Packer Productions founder Will Packer.

Vince Vaughn jokingly confused Wright with Steven Spielberg while presenting Wright with the spirit of Chrysalis award.

“When I was asked to present this award to this man from DreamWorks, it was actually very easy,” said Vaughn. “Obviously, his accomplishments in the industry are very impressive … the causes that he’s brought awareness to raise money for and given time to, the people he’s touched in their lives and also the way that he’s done it with real caring and sincerity and a lot of genuine warmth. But enough about Steven Spielberg. I was as shocked as you guys that it’s actually Michael Wright that they were asking me to honor tonight, so I had to dig deep here.”

Wright told the story of his proud stepfather who transitioned from being a repairman to driving trucks on the Paramount lot, but he never let his unemployment keep him from giving up along the way.

“I look forward to the day when I’m at Chrysalis during a bell-ringing ceremony signaling that one of our new members has a new job, and I will be thinking about my stepdad’s journey,” said Wright. “When I congratulate that person on getting their new job, my happiness will be deeply felt and personal.”

Darby Stanchfield presented an honor to her Scandal boss Beers, calling her “the cool person you always wanted to be in high school” but noted that she has “the mouth of a sailor.” Beers expressed that the award has influenced her to be even more involved in the mission of Chrysalis.

Chrysalis equips 500 clients, who are homeless in Los Angeles, with the necessary skills and resources to find employment. Client Charles Johnson shared an emotional testimony on how the organization has helped transition him into finding employment.

Will Packer received the Spirit of Chrysalis from his son Dominique Packer. The Wedding Ringer producer expressed how the recent loss of Barbara Dreyfus, who was head of motion pictures for his production company, has helped him to put life into perspective.

“We have a choice every day [that] we wake up, how we’re going to live that day because nothing else is promised,” said Packer. “If God blesses you to wake up tomorrow morning, how are you going to live that day?”

Following the program, guests headed into the venue’s after lounge for late-night treats from Sprinkles, Dylan’s Candy Bar and The Habit Burger Grill.
