Lindsay Lohan Says Women Who Share #MeToo Stories “Look Weak”

Lindsay Lohan says she is “very supportive” of women, but she isn’t very supportive of the #MeToo movement. In a new interview with British publication The Times, the 32-year-old actress revealed why she doesn’t agree with Hollywood’s fight against sexual misconduct.

“I don’t really have anything to say. I can’t speak on something I didn’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways,” she said. “If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report.”

Lohan added: “I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.”

The former child star went on to say that she believes some of the women who have come forward with stories of abuse and assault are simply seeking attention. “You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention,” she added. “That is taking away from the fact that it happened.”

Last year, Lohan defended Harvey Weinstein in an Instagram video. The disgraced producer was accused of sexual misconduct by more than 80 women following twin exposés in The New Yorker and New York Times, published last fall. He has since vehemently denied any allegations of nonconsensual sex.

“I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now. I don’t think it’s right what’s going on. He’s never harmed me or did anything to me,” she said at the time. “We’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop. I think it’s wrong. So, stand up.”

Lohan’s controversial remarks to The Times come just days after MTV shared a first look at her upcoming Greece-set reality series, tentatively titled Lohan Beach Club. The show, premiering in 2019, will follow Lohan and the staff of her recently opened Mykonos club at work and, presumably, after-hours a la Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules.
