Hundreds of people were evacuated from London’s Old Vic Theatre but police say nothing suspicious was found after a security alert prompted the evacuation of the cast and audience in the middle of a performance of Woyzeck, starring Star Wars actor John Boyega, on Saturday.
Theatergoers earlier tweeted that the matinee performance was halted by theater staff and audience and cast were told to leave.
The police force said specialist officers searched the building and found nothing suspicious.
Photos showed police tape cordoning off the area around the theater, near the city’s busy Waterloo Station, which handles both trains and the tube.
“Following Met Police advice, this evening’s performance will go ahead as planned,” tweeted the theater, instructing patrons for the canceled afternoon performance to contact their point of sale to arrange to rebook.
We have been evacuated as a precaution; audience safety is our priority. We are liaising with the Met Police. Check here for updates.
