In what will likely shake up Hollywood’s relationship with luxury car makers, longtime Audi executive Michael Patrick has left the company to join Cadillac.
Patrick, who spent nine years at Audi, exiting as entertainment and media communications manager, now serves as Cadillac’s entertainment and influencer communications manager, focused on the areas of entertainment, arts, tech, culture, sports and other prominent industries to support the brand’s new marketing and PR initiatives.
During his tenure, Audi immersed itself in Hollywood with a combination of sponsorships, product placements and key relationships with talent and influencers that helped bolster the brand. The company has been involved in such events as the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar viewing party, Women in Film events, AFI FEST, the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball and Audi’s own Golden Globes and Emmy parties.
Patrick tells THR that it’s an “exciting time” for the Cadillac brand. “Cadillac is in the midst of a committed growth and expansion, with new products arriving that are aimed at redefining the brand,” he says. “We need to make Cadillac relevant to the future of luxury car buyers. Our product portfolio is leading the way but we also need the strong associations within the entertainment industry and other influencer communities.”
Cadillac’s director of global communications Andrew Lipman praised Patrick’s experience and adds that he’ll work alongside Kristen Rubi and Eneuri Acosta on the communications teams to increase visibility and relevance across influential industries critical to the company’s growth. “Michael brings nearly two decades of valuable experience in the entertainment industry at a time when Cadillac is going through a period of dynamic growth,” Lipman told THR.
Patrick joins Cadillac which most recently sponsored New York Fashion Week: Men’s and served as a promotional partner on the theatrical release of Entourage. Repped by CAA Marketing, the company will return as the official automotive sponsor of the Academy Awards.
Patrick attended Tuesday night’s second annual IVY Innovator Film Awards, presented by Cadillac, at SmogShoppe in Los Angeles. Hosted by Josh Radnor, the event honored Seed&Spark CEO and founder Emily Best with the top award for her contributions to the film industry.
