The list of celebrity presenters at the NHL 100 Gala has just gotten longer.
Joining host Jon Hamm to honor the 100 greatest players in league history at this weekend’s All-Star festivities in Los Angeles are presenters Michael J. Fox, Keanu Reeves, legendary “Miracle on Ice” and Sunday Night Football commentator Al Michaels and Jeopardy host Alex Trebek. That the list includes Canadians Trebek and Fox should be no surprise given American’s northernmost neighbor’s proclivity for the frozen sport.
Fox, Reeves, Michaels and Trebek will each present players from a different decade.
“Michael, Keanu, Al and Alex are among the biggest hockey fans in the world,” said NHL chief content officer and executive vice president of events and entertainment Steve Mayer. “Their participation is a true mark of their appreciation of the game, the NHL and the players we are honoring on this special night.”
The event will feature musical performances by John Legend and Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik, whose band’s name is a reference to a hockey penalty. Robin Thicke also will make a special appearance to honor his late father, Alan Thicke.
The star-studded event will be held at Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live while NBCSN, Sportsnet and TVA Sports will broadcast the 90-minute special live at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET and kicks off the weekend-long NHL All-Star revelries ahead of Sunday’s game from Staples Center. Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony and Carly Rae Jepsen will offer performances at the game.
