German skater Paul Fentz looked ready to join the House of Stark on Friday when he competed in the men’s free skate competition at the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeonchang in a Game of Thrones-inspired costume and to the show’s dramatic score.
Dressed in legwarmers that looked like boots and a red and gold costume that appeared to be emblazoned with a crest, Fentz performed to theme music from Game of Thrones, the HBO hit fantasy series. He wore one gold glove, drawing comparisons to the show’s character Jamie Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who has one metal hand. The skater began the program in a crouched pose, with his hand dramatically in a fist.
The routine saw Fentz falter when he was supposed to land a quad; he opted for a triple instead, and landed unsteadily, earning him a 214.55 score.
The expected medalist of Friday’s figure skating final is Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu, the 2014 Olympic champion in Sochi.
