The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one victim dead and multiple injured in the early morning hours of Saturday.
Police responded to reports of gunshots around 12:58 a.m. involving two buses located by the Santa Monica pier.
According to a release, an altercation broke out between passengers who exited nearby buses that stopped along Ocean Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, and shots were fired into one bus. Three victims were rushed to the hospital, and one died of a gunshot wound.
“The suspects fled the area westbound in Palisades Park and jumped over a railing towards Pacific Coast Highway. The bus immediately fled the area and drove to the Santa Monica [Public Safety Facility] with three gunshot victims on board,” reads the release.
The suspects, described to be two to three black males, are currently at large. The investigation is ongoing and the area has been closed off.
