Kaepernick Blunder - S 2015
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is apologizing for a photo he posted on Instagram referencing the Houston floods.
Kaepernick posted — and quickly deleted — a photo of flooding in Texas on Tuesday with the caption: “I warned you the #7tormsComing !!! #Houston #prayersup.”
The “#7tormsComing” is used by both Kaepernick and fans to describe him, with the “#7” referencing his jersey number.
He quickly deleted the post and issued a two-tweet apology on Twitter. “No disrespect intended! Prayers up!” he tweeted first. Two hours later, that was followed by, “I’m so sorry about my insensitive post earlier today. I didn’t fully understand how many people are struggling in Houston right now and I feel horrible. My prayers are with everyone there.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster on Monday for 24 counties in Texas including Houston, where a downpour of rain left roads flooded and homes without power or electricity.
“The state of Texas has taken brisk action in dispatching all available resources to aid those affected by this severe weather system, and I strongly urge all Texans to exercise every possible precaution to ensure their safety and the safety of their families and neighbors,” said Abbott in a statement. “My thoughts and prayers are with all the communities that are suffering as a result of this weather disaster, and I am grateful for the first responders who have worked tirelessly to provide shelter, care and resources to all impacted areas.”
