Socality Barbie is done with her authentic life.
The creator of the Instagram sensation, which racked up 1.3 million followers in its 5-and-a-half month existence, revealed herself on Wednesday and announced she will no longer be posting anymore photos of Socality Barbie on the account.
“I started SB as a way to poke fun at all the Instagram trends that I thought were ridiculous,” said creator Darby Cisneros. “Never in 1 million years did I think it would receive the amount of attention that it did but because of that it has open the door to a lot of great discussions like: how we choose to present ourselves online, the insane lengths many of us go to to create the perfect Instagram life, and calling into question our authenticity and motives.”

Cisneros said she’s had fun running the account but “SB’s work here is done.” She will leave the account open for an indefinite amount of time so that people can still look through Socality Barbie’s adventures.
The Instagram account went viral because of how perfectly it mocks the lives people present on social media.

Recently, Instagram star Essena O’Neill garnered international attention when she re-edited the captions on all of her photos to tell the truth behind the images. She revealed she often starved herself and spent hours posing and taking pictures from different angles to make her body look perfect in “candid” shots that she was often paid for by sponsors.
On Tuesday night she deleted her Instagram entirely and posted a tearful video thanking fans for their support.
