On the heels of Steven Spielberg selling his Malibu compound in an off-market deal for $26 million comes word that he’s selling his super yacht The Seven Seas and building a larger boat to replace it.
A source tells THR that work is underway on a 300-foot-plus yacht, which would be a major upgrade from the $200 million Seven Seas, a 282-foot-long luxury liner built by Oceanco and designed by Nuvolari & Lenard. Less than two years after the yacht was finished in 2010, Spielberg was offering Seven Seas up as a rental for $1.3 million a week. Spielberg’s rep did not return repeated requests for comment.
The yacht is an impressive one that reportedly features an infinity pool with a 15-foot glass wall which doubles as a movie screen, accommodations for 12 guests and a crew of 26, a master bedroom with private deck and jacuzzi, a helipad, gym, spa and massage room.
As for his Malibu digs, Spielberg’s 7,237 square foot home features seven bedrooms, a massage room, private library, a swimming pool and oceanside terraces. He will leave behind neighbors including Pierce Brosnan, Steven Levitan, Dustin Hoffman and Ray Romano.
Spielberg is readying for the Oct. 16 release of his latest directorial effort, Bridge of Spies, starring Tom Hanks.
