Actor Stephen Fry is now a married man.
The 57-year-old Hobbit actor tied the knot on Saturday with 27-year-old Elliott Spencer. Fry announced the news on Twitter, posting a photo of the couple smiling as they signed their marriage documents.
“Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing,” Fry tweeted. This is Fry’s first marriage.
Fry’s longtime collaborator Hugh Laurie tweeted his support about the big news. “Bloody hell, it’s happened!” Laurie wrote Saturday. “@ElliottGSpencer has made an honest man of m’col. Love and happiness to all!!”
Fry took to Twitter earlier this month to announce his engagement to Spencer, an actor and comedian. Fry earned a Golden Globe nomination for 1997’s Wilde and played Master of Laketown in the two most recent Hobbit films. He also voiced the Cheshire Cat in 2010’s Alice in Wonderland.
Same-sex marriages have been legal in England since March 2014. Fry and Laurie’s tweets can be seen below.
