Subway Denies Records of Jared Fogle Complaints (Report)

Subway is reportedly denying that it received earlier claims that former spokesman Jared Fogle, 37, participated in sex crimes.

The Huffington Post received an email on Friday from Subway spokeswoman Kristen McMahon stating that claims of Fogle being a pedophile never were brought previously to the company’s attention.

“When we first heard about an alleged complaint being made to the company about Jared Fogle, we immediately investigated and found no record that this was ever brought to our attention,” said McMahon. “When we heard about the possibility of a second complainant, we began an investigation that is ongoing.”

Gawker reported on Friday that, in 2009, journalist Rochelle Herman-Walrond used Subway’s online comment form on its website to inform the corporate office of sexual comments she heard Fogle make about her children. She claims she never received a response from the company.

“I told them how Jared had approached my children — that I met him during my radio-show program — and that he had approached my children and had made sexual comments about wanting to do things with my children and their friends,” Herman-Walrond told Gawker. “I never got a ‘Thank you for emailing’ or anything like that, but I sent it, and it did go through.”

According to CNN, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis confirmed that Herman-Walrond tipped off the FBI after overhearing Fogle make inappropriate comments about middle-school girls. On Thursday, Herman-Walrond told Inside Edition she wore a wire for over five years, recording Fogle suggesting installing hidden cameras to watch her children.

“I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch,” she told Inside Edition.
