The Los Angeles Police Department was called to investigate a suspicious package at the building that houses Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s office on Thursday afternoon, but has since cleared the scene and determined there was no threat.
“The bomb squad did respond and it has been resolved. It was not a bomb,” LAPD officer Ray Brown told The Hollywood Reporter.
A nearby business called the LAPD to the 1100 block of Santa Monica Blvd. regarding the package at around 4:15 p.m., an LAPD representative told The Hollywood Reporter. Bystanders reported the bomb squad arrived on the scene on social media.
Earlier on Thursday, part of New York’s Time Warner Center was evacuated due to a suspicious-package scare that was later cleared, and the NYPD removed a suspicious package mailed to actor Robert De Niro at the Tribeca Enterprises building in New York. Two suspicious packages were also sent to Joe Biden on Thursday.
The scares came one day after similarly packaged pipe bombs were sent to Democratic politicians and supporters including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, George Soros and John Brennan.
