Will Ferrell was involved in a serious car accident Thursday night in Orange County, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The Saturday Night Live icon was in a two-car crash around 11 p.m. along Interstate 5, Rafael Reynoso, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol told THR.
The car Ferrell was in flipped after it was hit by another car, Reynoso said.
Four people were in Ferrell’s car; they all suffered injuries, none life-threatening, and were taken to the hospital. Ferrell and his colleague, Andrew Steele, have since been discharged. Their injuries were described as “minor” by authorities.
However, Ferrell’s longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and his other colleague, Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition, according to a statement from United Talent Agency.
Video footage taken at the scene showed Ferrell conscious, talking on his phone while he was being loaded into an ambulance.
“Will is staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them,” read the statement from UTA. “He’s also grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving.”
Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as factors in the crash. At this time, no citation or arrests have occurred, Reynoso said.
