Iconic comedienne Lucille Ball is getting dolled up again. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of I Love Lucy (which debuted Oct. 15, 1951) and the star’s Aug. 6 birthday, Mattel launched its new Tribute Collection line with a Barbie Signature doll modeled after the Hollywood legend. Although the limited-edition figure quickly sold out after its August debut, the good news is it’s now back in stock at Amazon, Target and Walmart.
The Tribute Collection pays homage to “visionaries whose incredible contributions have helped shape and impact culture,” says the El Segundo-based toy company. The brand adds that it worked directly will Ball’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz, who “played a tremendous role in helping designer Bill Greening bring this iconic doll to life.”

Priced at $40, the Lucille Ball Barbie stands at nearly 15 inches tall (that’s 22 percent the size of the star, who was five-foot-seven) and is done up in her famed red pin curls and lips. The collectible doll is dressed in a vibrant cobalt blue fit-and-flare dress and a white lace jacket, and her 1950s look is finished with silver high heels, pearl drop earrings and a miniature replica of Ball’s famed 40-carat aquamarine engagement ring. (Ball revealed in her posthumous autobiography that the original piece of jewelry was stolen during a hotel break-in.)
The limited-edition doll also comes with her own Desilu Studios script, a certificate of authenticity, a stand and collectible packaging.
It’s not the first time that the iconic sitcom has been immortalized in the form of poseable figurines. From 1997 to 2011, Mattel released a series of I Love Lucy dolls inspired by memorable episodes, as well as collector’s edition designs under its Pink Label line.
Nicole Kidman will play Ball in Aaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos alongside Javier Bardem, who will portray the star’s husband, Desi Arnaz. The Amazon Studios film will also star J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda as I Love Lucy co-stars William Frawley and Vivian Vance (who played Fred and Ethel Mertz on the original CBS show), respectively.
