’50 Shades of Grey’ Fan Divorcing Husband After He Refuses to Re-Create Scenes From Book (Report)

Fifty Shades of Grey apparently isn’t a hit with the Englishmen.

Four months after a U.K.-based male squirted his girlfriend with steak sauce after she refused to stop reading the book, another British woman is divorcing her husband after he refused to re-create scenes from E.J. James’ best-selling novel, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported.

The wife, a 41-year-old banker who makes more than £400,000 ($636,000) a year, claims in divorce papers filed at Britain’s High Court that her husband’s “boring  attitude” toward sex is evidence of “unreasonable behaviour,” one of five grounds for divorce in the U.K.

In her papers, she refers to the erotic novel, which she bought last year in the hope that it would help her marriage.

“The woman had been reading the book and wanted to spice up her love life,” the wife’s attorney, Amanda McAlister, said. “She thought their sex life had hit a rut — he never remembered Valentine’s Day and he never complimented her on her appearance. So she bought sexy underwear in an attempt to get her husband more involved. She said, ‘Let’s make things more interesting.’ “

But after that failed to change the situation, the woman became “fed up,” McAlister said, adding: “He went ballistic when he found out the name of the book she was reading and told her, ‘It’s all because you have been reading that bloody book.’ “

The husband is reportedly admitting to “unreasonable behaviour” to hasten the divorce process and avoid having to discuss his “alleged low libido” in court, the Mail reported.

James’ novel is the first in a trilogy — dubbed “mommy porn” — that centers on mysterious billionaire Christian Grey and naive college student Anastasia Steele. Fifty Shades of Grey has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.

Universal and Focus nabbed the rights to the mega-selling Fifty Shades trilogy for $5 million in March after a heated Hollywood bidding war.

Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks) is writing the adaptation, with Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and James producing.
