Top new restaurants include the Little Nell’s Element 47 (thelittlenell.com), where master sommelier Jonathan Pullis has fun pairing from the 1,500-selection wine list, and Chef’s Club at the St. Regis (stregisaspen.com), with a menu created by a rotating roster from Food and Wine‘s Best New Chef list. At Snowmass, the new Elk Camp restaurant (aspensnowmass.com) has a Friday gathering named for Ullr, the Norse snow god, with Viking-themed sledding.
The Kootenay Mountains might be the next Whistler. Powder magazine recently named the towns of Rossland and Nelson the best ski towns in North America, and nearby Red Mountain Resort (redresort.com), known for ultra-light snow that locals call “cold smoke,” is developing 22 new runs.
Local foodies are still celebrating the summer’s arrival of new culinary operations director John Murcko, of Park City’s Talisker on Main, which made him a James Beard Award semifinalist. His first of many planned restaurants is classic cafe Konditorei (sunvalley.com), reopened with a new Austrian Alpine atmosphere.
