It’s a modern love story for the ages.
Aly Raisman, one-fifth of the Olympic gold medal-winning women’s gymnastics team, and Colton Underwood, a tight end for the Oakland Raiders, made their burgeoning relationship red-carpet official at Monday evening’s Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The couple’s public debut comes four months after the 24-year-old NFL player asked Raisman on a date via a social media video that went viral.
“If you’re ever in San Jose and want to go on a double date with me and [fellow Raider teammate] Andrew [East] and [Olympic gymnast] Shawn [Johnson, who is married to East], let me know,” said Underwood in the video. “He’s very cute,” Raisman replied during an interview with Yahoo News. “Yeah, I would go on a date with him.”
Speaking with People, the 22-year-old gymnast revealed that the pair began quietly dating after a chance meeting in Denver.
In an Instagram post, Underwood referred to Raisman as “my girl,” posting a selfie of the pair at the event with the caption, “Someone that brings out the best in me. My girl looked absolutely stunning last night.”
Congrats to the happy couple!
