Amazon has removed from its website offensive apparel, accessories and children’s clothing that glorifies slavery.
The products, which bear the slogan “slavery gets shit done” and feature images of pyramids in the background, were sold by a third-party seller, and were eventually removed by the retailer for violating Amazon’s offensive products policy, which prohibits the sale of “products that promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance or promote organizations with such views.”
In a statement to Reuters, an Amazon spokesperson reaffirmed its stance on marketplace guidelines. “All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don’t will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. The products in question are no longer available.”
Though the pieces were taken down, outraged customers are nonetheless calling for an Amazon boycott over the fact that the offending pieces were able to slip through the cracks in the first place.

The uproar comes just weeks after H&M pulled a children’s hoodie emblazoned with the phrase “Coolest monkey in the jungle” from its website after intense backlash over the fact that it was modeled by a black child. Following the controversy, both The Weeknd and G-Eazy discontinued their working relationship with the Swedish fast fashion retailer.
