“I’ve never lived in a house as long as this one and I have ants in my pants,” said the CEO of American Rag Mark Werts when asked why he is selling his French-Moroccan Los Feliz home which listed this week for $4.195 million.
The home at 2545 North Vermont is tucked behind palms and lush greenery in the hills of Los Feliz and has similar stylish accents to Maison Midi, the high-end home design store and eatery Werts oversees on La Brea Avenue.
Werts and his wife Amanda purchased the home in 2010 for $2.3 million and have since done extensive work on the five bedroom six bath six thousand square foot home over the past seven years. That work includes updating the pool, newly redone terraces, doorways, landscaping and the children’s bathrooms.
A courtyard, floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors flood the place with natural light. The foyer offers handmade tiles set against Spanish Mediterranean arches and several fireplaces and walnut floors add warmth to a home that was originally built in 1928. Outside there is a pool terrace, a speakeasy-style lounge, a putting green and a second-story guest cottage.
As for Werts and his family, he said they are moving to Laughlin Park not far from where he grew up. Asked what he’ll miss most about his old home: “I’ll miss barbecueing next to the pool with the TV on watching golf and the [Moroccan steam shower known as a hammam] the most,” he said.
Katrina Webb, Nick Segal and Rick Ojeda of Partners Trust are the listing agents.
