Despite pouring rain the next day, the fetes continued as Halle Berry hosted the Women in Film reception; Natalie Portman attended the Fox Searchlight, VF and Richard Mille party for Black Swan; and Jennifer Lawrence made her way to QVC’s Red Carpet Style event. The preparties came to a close Saturday, Feb. 26, with the Weinstein Co. and Montblanc’s soiree for The King’s Speech and Blue Valentine. The night of the Academy Awards, Mercedes-Benz welcomed a chic crowd to Soho House for its annual viewing party, while the Night of 100 Stars gala lured Shirley Jones, Ed Asner and 94-year-old Ernest Borgnine, who shows no sign of stopping on the Oscar circuit. He won best actor for Marty in 1956.

The star happily showed friends pictures of his and Penelope Cruz’s month-old baby boy between fielding congratulations for his best actor nomination. … On Feb. 25, Universal Studios president and COO Ron Meyer (who hosted a star-studded bash at his home Feb. 23) and wife Kelly had dinner at Brentwood’s Toscana with Meyer’s new boss, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke, plus Burke’s wife, Gretchen, Lorne Michaels and Barbra Streisand. Meyer and Burke also stopped by Barry Diller’s Saturday afternoon picnic. The spectacle of the two execs making the Oscar rounds had one industry observer speculating that by Sunday night, Meyer — who has survived numerous regimes to become one of the longest-serving studio heads in Hollywood — would have had ample time to work his renowned charm on this latest overseer.
