There have been a number of Beauty and the Beast-inspired collections, but none as chic as Christopher Kane’s take on Disney’s new live-action film.
The unisex collection of ready-to-wear and accessories takes inspiration from the film’s signature plot elements, like the rose, which is translated into an organza applique on tulle, all-over details on a lace dress and onto a T-shirt print. The Kane brand’s signature “lenticular” clutch bag style also gets a rosy touch. Kane looked to the film’s setting and mood for the range’s color palette, with shades of bold red, gold and fairy blue.

“I have loved Disney since my childhood and all of the classics, of which Beauty and the Beast is one. It is such a great theme and story, with very iconic characters and a strong female voice,” said Kane in a statement. “Looking back at past seasons, our archive was rich with elements that support Beauty and the Beast themes, and we were very much inspired by the film’s setting and mood.”
Kane and Disney also collaborated with sustainable brand consultancy Eco-Age on the collection, a nod to Emma Watson’s commitment to wear only sustainable fashion during the press tour. (She’s been documenting her red-carpet wardrobe on the Instagram account @the_press_tour.) One of the collection’s eco-friendly designs is the “Swiss Rose” lace dress, which was manufactured in Italy and made from custom-designed certified Swiss lace. It also features certified organic silk satin and Italian-produced tulle.

The collection will be available March 16 in the brand’s flagship store on London’s Mount Street and christopherkane.com, as well as select retail partners. Prices range from $95 to $5,995.
Beauty and the Beast — directed by Bill Condon and starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson — hits theaters March 17.
